ASAT student wins Dilger award

Congrats to Dason Avery, a student in Chapel Haven’s ASAT program, who received the Alexandra Dilger award. He received a $1,000 grant toward the purchase of a new laptop for his college studies. He was honored at a ceremony held September 29  at the home of Patrick and Gale Dilger.

The Alexandra Dilger Award supports neurodiverse young adults striving for greater independence while reaching for their dreams. The Fund was established by the Dilger family in memory of their daughter, Alexandra, who lived a rich and fulfilling life despite personal challenges with depression and anxiety.

“Dason’s nominator describes him as a determined and thoughtful young man whose drive and enthusiasm make him a positive role model and leader for his peers – on any given day, you can hear Dason giving encouragement so that they can also achieve their goals,” said Patrick Dilger.

Dason has a love of books and literature, which has brought him to a goal-focused path of becoming a library technician. He’s started on that path with classes and an internship at Three Rivers Community College this fall

Dason was one of eight awardees this year. Congrats to Dason, we are proud of you!
