Kim Freeman, Certified Special Education Teacher
Kim is a certified special education teacher with over 20 years of experience in the field of education in New York and Connecticut. Over the past 12 years, she has solely focused on teaching, supporting, and advocating for neurodiverse children, teens and adults. Kim earned a Master of Science in Autism Spectrum Disorders and Other Developmental Disabilities from Southern Connecticut State University in 2013, the same year she came to Chapel Haven.
Kim’s teaching philosophy focuses on celebrating the unique talents and perspectives of her students and fostering personal growth and learning by encouraging students to explore their passions, learn in ways that work best for them and embrace their identities with confidence. And while her students benefit from her expertise and care, they might secretly prefer the company of her dog, Sammi, who joins Kim in the classroom and has become the unofficial co-teacher and class mascot!
When Kim and Sammi aren’t at Chapel Haven, they are often exploring waterfalls and waterscapes across CT.
